Yamim Noraim

ימים נוראים

← Song Library

Yamim Noraim, the Days of Awe, stretch from Rosh Hashanah through Yom Kippur. They are marked by selichot, the sounding of the shofar, the special Musaf services of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, and the closing Neila of Yom Kippur.

In North Moroccan (Tangier) tradition, the High Holiday liturgy includes distinctive melodies for Alenu of Musaf, piyutim such as Atanu Lehalot, and prayers such as Shavat Aniyim, preserved and taught by Rabbi Moshe Nahon.

[Tangier customs: Ariel to add]
