Shabbat

Shabbat is the weekly day of rest, from sunset on Friday to nightfall on Saturday. It is marked by Kabbalat Shabbat and the evening prayers, Kiddush over wine, festive meals accompanied by piyutim and table songs, the Torah reading on Shabbat morning, and Havdala at its close, separating the holy day from the week.
